Sarah Deboe (a self confessed “Lennon Head”) is an established performer and super talented vocalist, guitarist and songwriter

One half of acoustic duo, me + deboe, Sarah joined the Cavern Club as a resident solo artist after the duo’s premiere at International Beatleweek in 2021.

Born in Liverpool, Sarah’s early development as a musician was heavily influenced by The Beatles and the music that inspired them, from Memphis to the Mersey and beyond. Her Cavern sets draw heavily on The Beatles’ formative years and sounds including Buddy Holly, Carole King, and Liverpool’s own – The Fourmost.

Outside the Cavern, she can be found playing weekly gigs across UK, singing on the terraces at Goodison Park or Music Directing for regional and national theatre productions.

Joe Astley is a professional musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Wigan whose music has been heard on BBC Introducing, Radio X and XS Manchester.

Brought up with, and inspired by, the music of the 50s and 60s, his vintage style and energetic performances have gained him a huge following across Northern England and even in America; After recording original material at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, where Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee-Lewis, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison cut their teeth, he has gone on to write and record top ten charting singles and sell out venues across the North-West.

Joe has been around the scene for a few years and had previously played The Cavern Club with his original music as part of Dave Monks’ BBC Introducing but the pandemic delayed giving him an opportunity to come and perform here as a solo acoustic artist.

joe

He made his debut in 2021 in one of our regular gig slots, entertaining the crowd with his wide repertoire of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Beatles, Mersey Beat and classic singalongs and performed at International Beatleweek that year with dedicated Beatles sets.

Since then he has been a regular performer at The Cavern Club, and you can usually find him entertaining crowds on a Saturday afternoon across both stages.

In 2022, Joe is releasing his debut album and launching it right here at The Cavern Club!

Jim was born in Hong Kong and started listening to the Beatles when he was 9 through his older brother, who was a Beatles fan

He started to become interested in playing guitar at around the age of 11 and was greatly influenced by the Puerto Rican musician Jose Feliciano, which started a dream of becoming a solo performer, with the goal of singing and playing guitar in bars and restaurants.

By the age of 20, Jim had achieved this aspiration and lived life as a full-time musician for 2-3 years but soon found that it was not easy to survive as a full-time, professional musician so he made the sensible decision to get a job as an insurance agent and continued to perform music on the side.

In 1980 Jim was invited to play a memorial show for John Lennon after the sad news of his death shook the world. That night he performed John Lennon’s most famous song, ‘Imagine’ but reflects that he didn’t understand the song as much then as he feels about it now, taking on further meaning over time. Life experience really counts.

In 2018, a chance encounter with Cavern Club director Bill Heckle was followed by an invitation to Liverpool and International Beatleweek in 2019. Jim made the trip to Liverpool with his family and his musical journey came full circle.

Then, along came 2020, Covid-19 and the pandemic, the Cavern was closed, International Beatleweek festival was scaled right down to an online event and some acoustic performances in the club and it wasn’t until the end of 2021 that we realised Jim had relocated to the UK, operating his business from home and was living in Liverpool.

This led to his second appearance at Beatleweek in 2022, and thereafter invited to become a regular performer in the Cavern Club.

Jim plays on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 11:15am on the Front Stage.

Born in Liverpool and inspired by the creative energy of the city’s musical heritage

Craig LW has been performing since he was a teenager. Self-taught and gigging from the age of 15, multi-instrumentalist Craig played his first television performance at the age of 17, as an example of “where Mersey Beat is today.” He has since played with many of the bands and personalities of the Merseysound era, of which he is an avid fan with a keen knowledge of Mersey Beat music.

As well as performing live, Craig is a published writer who has written and produced original music for film and television, including Hollywood and international radio productions. He has regularly performed internationally in various shows, most recently enjoying playing onboard The Cavern Club’s at sea for Norwegian Cruise Line as part of the resident Beatles shows.

Craig’s roots, however, lie firmly in Merseyside. You can hear him regularly at The Cavern Club playing the best music from the 1960s and the Mersey Beat era.

Craig has also performed in several resident Cavern bands and plays with his own group, Carousel, every Saturday afternoon on the Front Stage.

Younger music fans are discovering the Beatles for the first time, almost as a new band, such is the timeless appeal of this music, and that’s before you even delve into their solo careers.

‘…so let us introduce to you’ Beatles Complete, one of the youngest tribute bands we have ever had in The Cavern Club. These local lads were just aged 14-18 when they took to the stage at 2021’s International Beatleweek festival to make their debut both at the festival and as a band.  They began in 2020 with Max (George) and Joe (Paul) after Joe  spotted an ad to start the band while purchasing a Hofner violin bass at his local music store. A year later, George (ex LIPA) and Tom joined as John and Ringo.

Together they have decided to start the next generation of MopTops and have gone on to become a Resident Band on The Cavern’s Saturday afternoon bill and Thursday nights

See them on the front stage under those iconic arches every Thursday evening from 9-11 for two sets of Beatles classic. Expect the raw energy of the early Beatles and enjoy…. Beatles Complete!

Charlie Skeggs is a second generation Cavern Resident Artist!

Introduced to The Cavern Club by his father, Charlie was playing drums in the Club and Pub when he was still just a teenager, performing at International Beatleweek. Now a permanent resident in Liverpool, Charlie has served time behind the bar and became a regular performer here with the Tony Skeggs Band and the History of the Cavern show.

Charlie’s multi-instrumental versatility has also lead him to become one of our solo acoustic performers, playing guitar, weekly in the Club as well as being involved in our Live Streaming gigs, where he was even on the desk as sound engineer from time to time.

Now the latest addition to the Amazing Kappa Band, there’s not much Charlie can’t do!
